Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shahryar Khan says his Zimbabwe counterpart has verbally confirmed their national team will tour Pakistan next week.
Shahryar says the PCB is waiting for a written confirmation.
Shahryar says on Friday he has talked to Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Wilson Manase three times over telephone in the last 14 hours, since confusion arose when Zimbabwe canceled the tour on Thursday, then deferred the decision until Friday.
The tour was jeopardised after militants killed 45 minority Shiite on a bus in the southern port city of Karachi on Wednesday.
The Zimbabwe government recommended the tour be called off.
Shahryar says, “Manase told me his government has given the clearance, and I have asked him to send the tour confirmation in writing.”
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) issued a statement saying its board was continuing with discussions regarding the tour.
“There are consultations going on at the moment with relevant authorities. We do not have a final position as yet,” ZC CEO Wilfred Mukondiwa said. Zimbabwe, due to arrive on Tuesday, will play two Twenty20s and three ODIs in Lahore.
