Ziaur shares 3rd place after 7th round in Mumbai Mayor’s Cup

Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh shared the third slot with 10 other players after 7th round of games in the 8th Mumbai Mayor’s Cup International Open Chess Tournament in Mumbai, India on Saturday.
Ziaur, who is a Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd player, earned 5 points from seven games while grandmaster Abdullah Al Rakib and grandmaster Enamul Hossain Razib of Bangladesh Navy earned 4.5 points each from as many games.
The two other Bangladesh players Kazi Mahbub Afzal of Dabanal Chess Club and Abul Kashem of Dhaka Chess Club earned 2 points each.
Against their Indian counterpart in the 7th round games, Ziaur conceded defeat against grandmaster R R Laxman, Rakib beat Iniyan, Razib played draw against Hemant Sharma, Kashem lost to Kulkarni Vinayak and Afzal lost to Audi Ameya.
