Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College was declared closed for an indefinite period on Wednesday following a clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
The college academic council took the decision at an emergency meeting at about 11:00 am, said medical college’s Vice-Principal Dr Rezaul Alam Jewel.
The medical college authorities asked the students to vacate their dormitories by 4:00 pm yesterday. Students’ dormitory super Dr Rafiqul Islam said the clash ensued between two factions of BCL over
establishing supremacy in the dormitory around 10:00pm on Tuesday, leaving seven students injured.
The injured-Shipon Kanti Barua, Saidul Islam, Bijoy Barua, Ashikuzzaman, Tanvir Alam, Rajes Deb and Buddho Deb-were admitted to the hospital.
