UNB, Dhaka :Amid the 20-party’s blockade programme, BNP and its associate bodies are going to celebrate the 79th birth anniversary of party founder late President Ziaur Rahman across the country today (Monday).Born on January 19, 1936 at Bagbari in Bogra, Zia had become the country’s 7th president and formed Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).BNP and has chalked out various programmes tomark the day with due respect. The programmes include hoisting of the party flag on its offices, placing of wreaths and holding milad mahfils.Though BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, the widow of the party founder, along with party leaders and activists, places wreaths at Zia’s mazar every year on the day, this time senior leaders will lead the party men paying homage to its founder as she has been ‘confined’ to her Gulshan office since January 3, her media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan told UNB on Sunday. He said, BNP will hold a doa mahfil to be arranged by Ulema Dal at its Nayapaltan central office which has remained under lock and key since January 3.Besides, Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) will arrange a free-medical camp on the ground floor of the BNP central office, he said. Asked how they will observe the programme at the office which remained locked, Sayrul said party men will go there to reopen it.He also said, Khaleda Zia through the senior leaders asked the party men to mark the day with programmes they usually arrange every year. The different associate bodies of the party have also taken various programmes to observe the day.
