Industries Minister and Awami League Advisory Council member Amir Hossain Amu on Thursday reiterated that General Ziaur Rahman, founder of BNP, was involved in the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“Not only that, Amu said, the late president worked also as the spokesman of the defeated forces in the Liberation War”. He said it while speaking as chief guest in a discussion on “Mrittunjoyee Bangabandhu” marking his 40th martyrdom anniversary organised by the Jagannath University (JnU) Pro Awami-league Teachers Association, known as ‘Blue Panel’ at the university central auditorium.
“It is said that Khandakar Mushtaque played the role of Mir Jafar. But the truth is that the mastermind of the killing was Zia, not Mushtaque. Zia played the role of Lord Clive while Mushtaque that of Mir Jafar, as a puppet of Zia, who was the main patroniser of local and international conspiracies” the Awami League leader claimed.
JnU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Mizanur Rahman, as special guest, said, “The killing of Bangabandhu was part of a well-organised conspiracy to make Bangladesh new Pakistan and to eliminate the spirit and ideal of 1971. But smashing all kinds of intrigues of the war collaborators, Bangabandhu’s beloved daughter Sheikh Hasina is now cementing the country’s democracy firmly”.
Blue Panel President Professor Dr AKM Moniruzzaman presided over the discussion, while its General Secretary Professor Dr Lutfor Rahman conducted the whole programme.
