The Special Judge Court-5 of Dhaka yesterday fixed today for hearing arguments in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case filed against six persons,
including BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. On Wednesday, defence advocate Ahsan Ullah placed arguments for the 5th time on behalf of accused businessman Sharfuddin Ahmed after Judge of the special court Dr Md Akhteruzzaman completed his submission on behalf of his client at 12.45 pm.
Later, he started his submission on behalf of his other client Kazi Salimul Haque Kamal. His submission on behalf of the former MP elected from Magura was not completed while the court fixed today for further argument hearing on behalf of him.
Meanwhile, BNP leader, Khaleda Zia appeared in the court at about 11.55 am yesterday.
On July 3, 2008, the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case with Ramna Model Police Station accusing Khaleda Zia, her son Tareque Rahman and four others of misappropriating over Tk 2.10 crore that had come as grants for orphans from a foreign bank.
