Zia Trust case hearing now on Aug 4

The Special Judge Court-3 of Dhaka on Thursday fixed August 4 to record further depositions of the witnesses in the Zia Orphanage Trust cases.
The makeshift court of Judge Abu Ahmed Zamadar, set up on the
 premises of jail department in city’s Bakshibazar area, passed the order on Thursday after recording the depositions of two more witnesses.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the graft case on July 3, 2008 with Ramna Police Station accusing Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman and four others for misappropriating over Tk 2.10 crore, which came as grant for orphans from a foreign bank.
The other accused are: former BNP lawmaker Kazi Saleemul Haque, businessperson Sharfuddin Ahmed, Khaleda Zia’s former Principal Secretary Kamal Uddin Siddiqui and Momenur Rahman.
Another graft case the Zia Charitable Trust Graft Case, was filed on August 8, 2011. The ACC filed the case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds for the Trust from unknown sources.
