Sylhet Bureau :
Awami League joint-general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif has said there is no heroic story of Ziaur Rahman in the liberation war against Pakistan in 1971.
On the contrary, after the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman he came to power and introduce the Dalal Act, giving the notorious Razakar Ghulam Azam a chance to do politics in the country and proved that he was their accomplice.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a Mourning meeting organized by Dakshin Surma Upazila Awami League in Sylhet on the occasion of the 47th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Sunday.
Regarding August 15, 1975, Hanif said that Bangabandhu loved the people of this country and dreamed about this country. The losers of ’71 killed the father of the nation so that Bangladesh could not stand tall in the world. And without judging those murderers, Ziaur Rahman has rewarded them by bringing the Indemnity Act.
Awami League Organizing Secretary Abul Hossain was the keynote speaker at the meeting. He said that the murderer Zia has betrayed, the murderer Mushtaq has betrayed. Because Bangabandhu had an ideal, he is living among crores of people.
Awami League Organizing Secretary Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, Central Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam Amin, Central Member Azizus Samad Don and Sylhet district and City Awami League leaders were present as special guests at the rally.
Speaking as the special guest, Awami League Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam Amin said that weeds have repeatedly polluted Bangladesh. Yet those weeds are trying to contaminate Bangladesh. However, keep in mind that even if the weeds have a temporary victory, their defeat is inevitable. Now those weeds want to enter the Awami League and take advantage. However, the people’s leader Sheikh Hasina has taken initiative to uproot them. At the rally, Azizus Samad Don said that Ziaur Rahman made the blueprint for the assassination of Bangabandhu. And his son Tareq Rahman tried to assassinate Sheikh Hasina by launching a grenade attack in 2004.
Awami League candidate Habibur Rahman Habib promised to build a modern-aesthetic Sylhet-3 constituency at that time.
