Zia finishes runner-up in Delhi Open Rating Chess

GM Ziaur Rahman Zia of SAIF Sporting Club finished runner-up in the 16th Delhi Open International Rating Chess Tournament which concluded on Tuesday at New Delhi in India.
GM Zia earned 8 points out of 10 games to became runner-up in the event where total 27 Grandmasters participated.
In the 10th or last round games held on Tuesday, Zia split point with GM Karthikeyan Murali of India. He and other two players secured eight points each after last round and in tie-breaking system GM Zia finished runner-up.
GM Naiditsch Arkadij of Azerbaijan emerged unbeaten champion in the event. In this event, GM Zia won seven games, drew two games and lost one game.
Zia won against GM Tran Tuan Minh of Vietnam in fourth round, GM Amonatov Farrukh of Tajikistan in fifth round, GM Rozum Iavn of Russia in eighth round and GM Sergei Tiviakov of Netherlands in ninth round while he drew with GM Deep Sengupta of India in sixth round and GM Kathikeyan Murali of India in 10th round.
He lost only one game against champion of the event GM Naiditsch Arkadik of Azerbaijan in eighth round.
