GM Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh Navy emerged as unbeaten champion in the Prime Bank 18th International Rating Chess Tournament held Thursday at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room.
He earned full 9 points out of 9 games to clinch the title.
CM Sohel Chowdhury of Sheikh Russel Memorial Sporting Club became the runner-up with 7.5 points. IM Abu Sufian Shakil of Golden Sporting Club finished 3rd and FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman Emon of Sheikh Russel Chess Club, secured the 4th place. Shakil and Emon both earned 7 points each.
Eight players earned 6.5 points each. Their positions are 5th-M Matiur Rahman Mamun of Sonali Bank Sports & Recreation Club, 6th-Shawkat Hossain Pollab of Sheikh Russel Chess Club, 7th-Mohammad Sherajul Kabir of SAIF POWERTEC Chess Club, 8th-Mohammed Enayet Hossain of Hasan Memorial Chess Club, 9th-Shawkat Bin Osman Shaon, 10th-Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan of Hasan Memorial, 11th-Faisal Hossain and 12th-Anichuzzaman Jewel.
Nine players earned 6 points each and got 13th to 21st positions. They are Uten, FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman, Md. Masum Hossain, Md. Mujibur Rahman, Kazi Md. Mahbub Afzal, Saksham Rautela of India, Shamsul Kabir Chowdhury, Md. Abdur Rauf, and Md. Sariatullah.
