Chittagong Bureau :
Chittagong city mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said that the corporation will not tolerate any kind of irregularities, nepotism and above all political compromise in terms of development works undertaken by the corporation. “Anyone who tries to indulge in any kind of inappropriateness, favouritism or prejudice has to face dire consequence”, the mayor warned.
The city mayor said this while inaugurating first-ever open draw of tender and views exchange meeting with the contractors at KB Abdus Sattar Auditorium of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC). He said all development works undertaken by the corporation are accomplished with the revenue earned from the city dwellers.
“It is moral responsibility of a public utility service institution to have transparency and accountability in all development works”, he said.
He said the open tender draw is small initiative to reach services to the doorstep of the city dwellers and it would check unhealthy competition, indiscretion and politicization. He also urged all contractors to use quality bitumen instead of low standard bitumen in road construction.
CCC panel mayor Chowdhury Hasan Mahmud Hasni, CCC chief executive officer Kazi Mohammad Shafiul Alam, secretary Rashid Ahmed, superintendent engineers Anowar Hossain and Rafiqul Islam and heads of concerned departments of CCC, were also present on the occasion.
