Zero tolerance against drug abuse: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Saturday said the government will not make any compromise over drug abuse and the people involved with it must be brought to book.
“The drug paddlers have to face dire consequences. We will control the drug abuse at any cost. There will be no room for drug paddlers in the country,” he said at a view exchange meeting here marking a special drive against drug abuse. Representatives from the citizens of the district, District Boat Owners’ Association and law enforcement agencies joined the meeting.
Among others, RAB Director General Benazir Ahmed addressed the meeting while local lawmaker Asheq Ullah Rafiq, Deputy Inspector General of Police of Chattogram Division Khandoker Faruq Ahmed, Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Kamal Hossain, President of Cox’s Bazar District Unit of Awami League Sirajul Mostafa and Mayor Mujibur Rahman were present.
Urging the people to stand against the drug abuse, Asaduzzaman said, “Please help our law enforcement agencies in controlling drug abuse and tell the people involved in the job to refrain from this”. If all work together, it is possible to control drug abuse, militancy and piracy, he added.
