Panasonic Open Golf: Zamal placed 3rd, Siddikur 13th after 1st round

Zamal Hossain of Bangladesh finished an astonishing 3rd while on his return to competitive gold country’s celebrated golfer Siddikur Rahman placed 13th among 120 golfers after the first round of the Panasonic Open India 2014 at the Delhi Golf Club on Thursday.
Siddikur, sidelined by an injury that hospitalized him for 15 days, scored 70 with two under par while Zamal Hossain scored 68 with four under par.
Rahul Gangjee of India tops the list scoring 66 with six under par while Tze Huang Choo of Singapore followed scoring 68 with four under par.
The two-time Asian Tour winner, Siddikur, injured his back (fourth and fifth lumbar disc compressing against a nerve) in June and was on the road to recovery before aggravating the injury at the European Masters in Switzerland in September.
The popular Bangladeshi is thankful to be back on the Asian Tour and contending in this week’s US$300,000 event, already started in the Indian capital today (Thursday) against a stellar field including, title holder Wade Ormsby of Australia and Indian star SSP Chowrasia.
After the first round, famed Bangladeshi golfer Siddikur Rahman said: “I’m happy with my return. Overall, my putting was awesome. All together I’m hitting a little bit off. I started without any confidence.”
“I played really good in the practice round but I was thinking a lot. It is still a good round. I didn’t have much confidence on the first few holes then I talked to my caddie and decided to go for it. After four holes, I played aggressive and things started to happen,” he added, according to Asian Tour.
