National Cricket: Zakir, Shanta, Mehrab hit tons Barisal beat Sylhet by 150 runs

Barisal Division earned a comfortable 150 runs victory over Sylhet Division in a tier-2 match of the 4th round of the National Cricket League that concluded on the 4th and final day at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the other 4th round matches between Chittagong and Rajshahi Division,
Khulna and Dhaka Divisions, and Rangpur Division and Dhaka Metropolis team ended in draw at different venues across the country.
In Bogra, Sylhet Division, having 172 runs in the first innings, resumed the 2nd innings Tuesday morning with overnight score 54 for 2 and were all out for 297 runs in 114.2 overs.
One down Zakir Hassan, who was in batting with nine runs, made a century scoring an unconquered 137 runs off 292 deliveries featuring 20 boundaries. Former national cricketer Alok Kapali scored 56 runs off 130 balls including seven fours while Sadiqur Rahman and Nasum Ahmed added 21 runs each for the Sylhet
National all rounder Shohag Gazi, who took three wickets in the first innings, grabbed five wickets in the 2nd innings conceding 112 runs to be adjudged man of the match along with Salman Hossain, who scored 146 runs.
Earlier, Barisal Division scored 155 runs in the first innings and declared the 2nd innings at 464 for 7 featuring two centuries by Al Amin (157) and Salman Hossain (146).
Barisal Division earned 13 points and Sylhet Division bagged four points from the match.

In a tier-1 match of the league at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Dhaka Division with first innings total of 154 runs Tuesday resumed the 2nd innings against Khulna Division with overnight score of 37 for 2 and scored 233 for 7 in 24 overs at stumps on the 4th and final day.
Night watch batsman Abdul Majid (11) scored a patient 199-ball 60 runs with nine fours and one six, number five Saif Hassan contributed 191-ball 64 runs including eight fours and one six, Raquibul Hassan made 114-ball 34 runs with four fours while Nadif Chowdhury made 47-ball 30 with four fours.
Mehedi Hasan Miraj grabbed three wickets for 70 runs while Abu Bakkar took two for 25 runs.
Earlier, Khulna Division scored 117 runs in the first innings and piled up a huge 506 runs for 7 (declared) in 123.2 overs in the second innings, featuring three centuries by Mehedi Hasan (104), Anamul Haque Bijoy (100) and Nurul Hasan (no 182).
Dhaka Division secured seven points while Khulna Division bagged six points from the match.

In another tier-2 match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, replying to Chittagong Division’s first innings total of 350 runs, Rajshahi Division with first innings total of 208 runs resumed the 2nd innings with overnight 97 for 2 and scored 273 for 6 in 112 overs when bails were drawn for the 4th and final day (Tuesday).
Opener Nazmul Hossain Shanta, who was in batting with 39 runs, confidently stood on the crease and scored 101 runs off 258 balls hitting 15 fours to lead the match towards draw. Later he was adjudged the man of the match.
National test captain Mushfiqur Rahim scored unbeaten 50 runs off 104 balls featuring eight boundaries.
Mehedi Hasan Rana took two wickets for 52 runs.
Chittagong Division got seven points while Rajshahi Division bagged four points from the match.

In the other tier-1 match at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna, Dhaka Metro, having 242 runs in the first innings, resumed the 2nd innings Tuesday morning and declared the innings at 352 for 7 in 120 overs.
Night watch batsman Mehrab Junior (87) completed a century making 109 runs off 197 balls featuring seven fours and five sixes, another night watch batsman and national coloured Mahmudullah (48) scored 76-ball 52 runs with eight hits to the fence and Asif Ahmed contributed an unbeaten 77 runs off 132 balls with six boundaries.
Tanveer Haider grabbed three wickets for 73 runs and while Nasir Hossain took two for 44 runs.
Later, Tanveer Haider was adjudged man of the match for his all round performances. In reply, Rangpur Division, having 299 runs in the first innings, opened the 2nd innings in the afternoon and scored 72 for 3 in 24 overs at the end of the 4th and final day, Tuesday with Ariful Haque making an unbeaten 31 off 43 balls with three fours and a six.
Asif Hasan took two wickets for 32 and Shamsur Rahman bagged one for six runs.
Rangpur Division bagged eight points while Dhaka Metro got six points from the match.
