The Centre for Zakat Management (CZM) organized two- day long 5th Zakat Fair 2017 in Chittagong Club on 19th and 20th May with the theme “Making a Difference with Zakat”. The Fair was organized for introducing zakat accelerating the social and economic security. Like before, the aim of Zakat fair is to discover zakat as big asset, to make people conscious about the importance, significance and the rules of zakat, to calculate the amount of personal zakat specially calculating business zakat and to show some example where zakat has made the people’s life change. Along with seminar and Zakat consultations desk, there will be also stall of the product of zakat beneficiaries, women garments, gift items and books in this function. The Fair will be remaining open for all from 9.30 am to 6 pm.
A press briefing was held at Chittagong Seniors’ Club today to introduce Zakat Fair 2017 to the people through the journalists. The function was conducted by Khandaker Zakaria Ahmed, General Manager of Center for Zakat Management (CZM). The member secretary of fair organizing committee and the former secretary of People’s Republic of Bangladesh Dr. Mahbubur Rahman gave a briefing about the zakat fair to the journalists. The aim and goal of CZM was discussed before answering the question of journalists.
Dr. Mahbubur Rahman said that to strengthen the power of Muslims and remove poverty in the Muslim colonized country like Bangladesh, Zakat can be the major moderator. He invited the eminent and rich people to visit the fair. He said, “In the two day long fair, the inauguration program will be held on 19th May, at 10:00 am in Chittagong Club Auditorium. On the same day, a question-answer session will be held especially for women at 3:00 pm.” On the second day at 10:00 am of the Zakat Fair, a seminar titled on “Role of Zakat in Social Security and Poverty Reduction” will be taken place.
