The fourth Zakat Fair 2016 is set to begin in the capital city on Friday with the theme of ‘Making a difference with Zakat’, according to a press release.
Planning Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal, MP is expected to formally inaugurate the fair on the day as chief guest at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).
The two-day fair is being organized by Center for Zakat Management (CZM). The event has attracted several sponsors like Islamic Banks Consultative Forum, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited, Exim Bank, Social Islami Bank Limited, Islamic Relief Bangladesh, Maan Bangladesh and several other key institutions in the country.
There will be several stalls in the fair which will include the Zakat Consultation Desk, several Islamic Banks, Zakat based NGOs and commercial stalls including books stalls, gift items, Islamic institutes and others.
This has been disclosed by the Member Secretary of the Zakat Fair Organizing Committee Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman at a ‘Meet the Press’ program in Dhaka Reporters Unity on Wednesday.
Chairman of Center for Zakat Management Niaz Rahim and General Manager Khondokar Zakaria Ahmed were also present in the briefing session. The Zakat Fair will be open for all every day from 10 am to 6.30 pm.
Dr. Mahbubur Rahman in his introductory statement said that the Zakat Fair is being organized for accelerating the social and economic progress & poverty alleviation process of Bangladesh. He urged all concerned including the wealthy people of Bangladesh to visit and know the real calculation of Zakat as well as business Zakat.
The press release said that four seminars will be presented in the sideline of the fair. There will be special Q&A session for Women only where they will be able to clarify their queries on Zakat. A seminar on the “Role of Awqaf & Sadqah in Social Security” and a Round Table Conference will be held on the topic of “Zakat an Effective Tool for Poverty Alleviation”.
Several important figures of our society will attend the fair as special guests & speakers including Justice Abdur Rouf, Lt. Gen (Retd) M. Nooruddin Khan, Former Advisor to the Caretaker GoB Mr. Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, Dr. A. B. Mirza Md. Azizul Islam, Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman, Former Attorney Gen. and The Law Advisor to the Caretaker GoB A F Hassan Ariff, Major Gen. (Retd) Golam Kader and President of Bankers Association of Bangladesh Nazrul islam Mazumder, President of Chamber of Commerce and Industries A K Azad, President of Islami Banks Consultative Forum Engr.
