A week long ‘Zakat Fair 2019’ will begin inthe city today with the theme ‘making a difference with zakat’.
Planning Minister M A Mannan will inaugurate the fair around 10am at Krishibid Institute, Farmgate.
Former adviser to caretaker government Dr A B Mirza Azizul Islam will chair the opening session.
“We have organised the fair with a view to expediting socio-economic development to alleviate poverty,” said fair organising committee member-secretary A M M Nasir Uddin, said a press release.
He urged all including the affluent section of the society to visit the fair to know about zakat in detail including actual calculation of this system.
During the fair, four separate sessions including a question-answer session for women will be organised.
