Dr. A.K.M. Zakaria has been appointed as the Member (Physical Science) of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission on 22 February 2022.
Prior to the appointment, he served as the Director General of Atomic Energy Research Establishment, Savar and Director of Planning Division of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission.
Dr. A.K.M. Zakaria joined in Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission as a Scientific Officer in 1989. He completed his B.Sc (Hons.) with 1st class 1st position and M.Sc. degree in Physics from Jahangirnagar University and M. Phil and Ph.D. degree in Physics from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka.
During his service life he served in Nuclear Medicine Centre, Rangpur; Nuclear Medicine Centre, Dhaka and Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology as Chief Scientific Officer and Head of Division. Dr. A.K.M. Zakaria is an expert on Reactor and Neutron Physics, Neutron Scattering and Material Science.
He has more the 80 (eighty) scientific research articles published in different national and international journals.
He was born in the village of Shahabazpur, Upazilla-Nabinagar under Brahmanbaria District. In the personal life Dr. A.K.M. Zakaria is happily married and is the father of two daughters.
