Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and one of the trustees Zafrullah Chowdhury’s physical condition deteriorated as he had been suffering from secondary pneumonia for the last two days, said his doctor.
Gonoshasthaya Samaj Vittik Medical College professor and Zafrulla’s doctor Mamun Mustafi said that Zafrullah couldn’t sleep and he had been passing a restless time in hospital bed.
Freedom fighter physician Zafrullah remained in Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital at Dhanmondi for more than a month.
He has been suffering from kidney diseases for a long period and needs three dialysis in a week.
On May 24, Zafrullah was tested COVID-19 positive by Gk’s Rapid Dot Blot kit. He later took a PCR test which yielded the same result.
On June 4, Zafrullah’s health condition had deteriorated suddenly for some respiratory problems due to COVID-19.
Zafrullah tested coronavirus free on June 13 but contracted pneumonia on June 16, a day after he went to pay his last tribute to deceased Awami League leader Mohammad Nasim.
