Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and trustee board member Zafrullah Chowdhury’s physical condition deteriorated on Tuesday, as pneumonia intensified into his body, although he recently recovered from COVID-19, said GK officials on Tuesday.
The physicians treating the veteran freedom fighter were going to form an emergency medical team soon.
GK Nagar Hospital professor Mamun Mustafi, who was treating Zafrullah, told the media that he was anxious over the GK founder’s health condition.
He also suspected that Zarfullah might be infected with pneumonia when he went out of the hospital to pay tribute to deceased Awami League leader Mohammed Nasim recently.
‘We are going to form an emergency medical board comprising physicians at home and abroad again to discuss his health condition,’ Mamun said.
In a Facebook page post, GK also said that Zafrullah was given new antibiotics considering deterioration of his health situation. Officials said that Zafrullah, undergoing treatment at Gonoshasthaya Kendra Nagar Hospital in Dhanmondi, urged people to pray for him.
On Saturday, Zafrullah tested negative for COVID-19 with GK-developed Rapid Dot Blot kit. On Monday he was also found novel coronavirus infection free in an RT-PCR test as the GK-developed Rapid Dot Blot kit was yet to get government approval.
On May 24, Zafrullah tested positive for COVID-19 in a Rapid Dot Blot kit test.
