Staff Reporter :Nobel Laureate professor Muhammad Yunus, a founding member of MDG Advocacy Group, congratulated the Secretary-General of United Nations Ban Ki-moon and his team for steering the goals to a successful adoption by the UN General Assembly [on September 25]. Ban Ki-moon chaired a session of MDG advocates, who are his advisors for driving the MDG program globally, and helping him formulate the SDGs. He was assisted by co-chairs President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Erna Solberg, Prime Minister of Norway.Referring to the issue, Yunus said it was a historical event which would give a new shape to the future world. He said, the next challenge will be to make SDG a household world to guide the family’s daily life, throughout the world. According to a press release issued by Yunus Centre on Wednesday, Professor Yunus also asked the Secretary-General and the UN to support the developing nations in successfully implementing the 2030 Agenda. Other Advocates brought other dimensions in the discussion and the Secretary General thanked all the advocates for guiding him in formulating the SDGs and getting them supported by all nations of the world. MDG advocates including Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, President of Rwanda Paul Kagame, Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg, United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy Raymond G. Chambers, leading expert on economic development Jeffrey Sachs, former Korean diplomat ambassador Dho Young-Shim, former French Minister of Foreign Affairs Philippe Douste-Blazy, international advocate for women’s and children’s rights Graça Machel and American media mogul and philanthropist Ted Turner attended the meeting with the Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on United Nations Sustainable Development Summit 2015 at the United Nations Headquarters.
