Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury urged the new generation to learn the ideology of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to build a prosperous country.
“Bangabandhu had struggled to establish the rights of people by achieving economic emancipation. He wanted to build a hunger, poverty and discrimination free state,” she said.
The Speaker said this recently while addressing as the chief guest a discussion organized by JS Secretariat marking the National Mourning Day-2018 at JS Bhaban.
JS Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah and Chief Whip ASM Feroz addressed the discussion as special guests with Senior Secretary of JS Secretariat Dr Md Abdur Rab Howlader in the chair.
The Speaker said Bangabandhu, who was uncompromising leader, never bowed down his head to injustice.
Bangabandhu established the rights of people by suffering tortures, prison-oppression in his long struggling life, she said, adding Bangamata was the main maker to be Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib.
Dr Chaudhury also said Bangabandhu had taken many development initiatives in the three and half years after independence but his assassins did not allow him to materialize those plans.
