State Minister for Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Tuesday said youths will play a pivotal role in building digital Bangladesh by 2021.
“The youths are the main driving force of any development of the country and they[youths] will play important role in building digital Bangladesh by 2021”, said the State Minister while inaugurating the virtual ‘Seeds for the Future 2020’, organised by Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd, a largest Chinese telecom network equipment provider in the country.
The government is working relentlessly for developing the ICT sector of the country, he said, adding that “‘Seeds for the Future’ is designed to cultivate more ICT talents in Bangladesh and provide an opportunity for the students to learn ICT Technologies.”
Chairman of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) department of Dhaka University Dr SM Mostafa Al Mamun, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department head of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Prof Dr AKM Ashiqur Rahman, Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department head of Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Dr Muhammad Ahsanullah, EEE department head of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Prof Dr M Rafiqul Islam, CSE department head of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) Prof Dr Basir Ahmed joined the online programme while Zhang Zhengjun, CEO of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd, launchedthe event.
Congratulating the Huawei to organise the seeds for the future programme, Palak said Huawei, world’s leading ICT solutions provider, has launched its global flagship CSR programme and the programme would help to promote the innovative thinking among the youths.
EEE department students from Dhaka University, CUET and KUET and CSE department students from BUET and RUET will participate in the programme this year.
Two best final year students will be selected from each university for participating in the programme.
The selected students will take part in training on new technologies participating a five-day online programme at the Huawei headquarters in Beijing and Shenzhen, China.
The seeds for the future programme started globally in 2008 and the programme is being implemented in 126 countries and international organisations. The programme has benefited more than 30,000 students of 500 universities across the world. The programme has started in Bangladesh in 2014.
