Youth’s throat-slit body recovered in Naogaon

The body of a young man was recovered with the throat slit from Kachua village in Atrai upazila early Thursday morning. The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, 33, son of late Abul Hossain of the village.
Locals said Jahangir used to guard the shallow machine of one Afaz Uddin in the field, which was kept there for irrigating crop fields.
Jahangir went to bed in his shanty on Wednesday night like everyday, but locals found his body with the throat slashed in the field next morning and informed police.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Jahangir’s wife Sathi Begum said her husband had an altercation with some people of the village over the ownership of a piece of land.
His rivals might have killed Jahangir, said Sathi Begum.
Officer-in-charge of Atrai Police Station M Abdul Latif Khan confirmed the incident and said they detained a couple-Rezaul Islam Lalu and his wife Laki Begum-for interrogation. A case was filed in this connection.
