The Amar Ekushey Boi Mela on Friday witnessed huge turn up of youths, and a very good transactions of books in most of the stalls, said the publishers.
The books on science fiction drew the attention of the youths, Students from schools, colleges and universities assembled there in a large number to buy science fiction books.
A K M Tariqul Islam Roni, Publisher of Tamrolipi Prokashani, told The New Nation of high demand for science fiction books. The youths, mostly students, come to the Boi Mela on Friday.
“The youths searched for the books of reputed science fiction. The sale was satisfactory,” Tariqul Islam said.
Mazharul Islam , Publisher of Anno Prokash, said that the sale of books was better than other days.
“Science fiction is a new form of literature accepted by the new generation,’ said the writers.
“I feel comfort to read the books of science fiction. I have read the world’s noted science fiction’s books. I have bought a book on science fiction named Cyclone by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal,” said Rakib Hossen, a Masters student of Dhaka University.
The Bangla Academy premises and the Suhrawardy Udyan were teeming with visitors. Long queues changed the scenario and it took time for them to enter the Boi Mela.
It was the busiest day for the publishers who saw swarm of visitors in front of their stalls. The sale of books was also hopeful, the publishers said.
On the 23th day of Boi Mela, two hundred and sixty six new books arrived at the fair. Of them, 34 Story, 25 Novel, five Article, 66 Poetry, three Thesis, 29 Rhyme, seven Biography, eight Liberation War, six Travel, two History and others were Miscellaneous.
Of them, Bhuter Rajjye Dhormoghot of Rafiq Ahmed, Pandenama interpreted by Mahmudul Hasan Nizami, Bhuter Raja Grefter of Mia Hosen published by Shaptodinga and Origin interpreted by Monika Rahman Mon.
A discussion titled ‘Dakkin Asiar Kobita’ was held in the main stage of the Academy. Professor Kayser Haque presented the keynote paper, while Nepali writer Ovi Subedi, Poet Muhammad Nurul Huda, Professor Sonia Nishat Amin and Poet Safat Saj were participated in the discussion.
Latter, a cultural function was held.
At 4:00 pm, a discusson titled `Desh Bivager Sattur Bochhor’ will be held in the main stage of the Academy. Kamal Lohani will preside over the function, while Imanul Haque will present the keynote paper. Sayed Hasan Imam and Nur Jahan Bose will present as the discussant.
