The youths should play vital role in indentifying and preventing social problems like child marriage, dowry and superstitions through creating adequate public awareness for flourishing overall talents of all children.
The opinion came at an energetic youth conference styled ‘Role of Youth Forum for Overall Intellectual Development of Children’ organised by Boragari Samaj Kallyan Sangstha (BSKS) at its office in Domar upazila here on Wednesday.
The main objective of the conference was to indentify ward-based local social problems in Boragari union through the Youth Forum of BSKS and exchange views with the local public representatives and authorities for eliminating those.
RDRS Bangladesh, a reputed NGO, extended assistance in arranging the energetic youth conference under the Strengthening Community-based Organisations for Pro-poor Democratic Governance (SCOPE) Project.
Fifty persons, including members of Youth Forum of BSKS, its executive committee members, community mobilisers, Imams, marriage registrars, public representatives, civil society members, teachers and local elite, participated in the conference.
Domar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mrs. Sabiha Sultana and Panel Chairman of Boragari union Abdul Mannan attended the daylong conference as the chief and special guests respectively with Chairman of BSKS Sahir Uddin in the chair.
Former Principal of Motukpur School & College Bhabotosh Roy, Senior Trainer of the SCOPE Project of RDRS Bangladesh Shah Alam and its Senior Social Development Officer Ashraful Alam addressed the event, among others.
The speakers highly lauded comprehensive efforts and achieved success of Youth Forum, BSKS, local public representatives and civil society members in creating awareness about negative impacts of child marriage, dowry and other social problems in the area.
Assuring all possible assistance of Boragari union parishad, its Panel Chairman Abdul Mannan called upon Youth Forum members for taking oath of preventing any child marriage in the area to turn the union into a model one by eliminating the social curse.
