Youth urged to uproot militancy, communalism

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan called upon the youths to step forward for uprooting militancy, communalism and drug abuse from Bangladesh.
“It is not enough to wipe out only the garbage from college campus….we have to eradicate the junk in the form of militancy, communalism and drug abuse from the country.”
The minister said this on Saturday while speaking as the chief guest the inaugural programme of campus cleaning campaign titled, “Clean Campus, Safe Campus” organised by the student wing of Bangladesh Chharta League (BCL) unit of Kabi Nazrul Government College on its premises in city’s old part.
Principal of the college Dr Nurun Nahar, vice-principal Rafikul Islam, Awami League sub-committee assistant secretary Golam Sarwar Kabir and BCL vice-president Ziaul Huque Zia spoke with BCL college unit president Mamunur Rashid Mamun in the chair.
Referring to the meeting of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia with some government officials and employees, the minister said, “She (Begum Zia) is making plots sitting in home … BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam said that Khaleda did not meet with any government official while Barrister Rafiqul Islam said she met…lying is their habit.”
The minister also called for making clean the rivers of the country.
