A court here on Sunday sentenced a young man to death for killing a minor girl after rape in Hathazari upazila in 2008.
The convict is Amir Hossain alias Jamal, 24, son of Omar Ali of Sapmara village in Fatikchhari upazila. Judge Motahar Ali of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 also fined him Tk 1 lakh. The 10-year-old girl, Julie, daughter of Jebon Hossain, hailing from Fatehpur village in Fatikchhari, went to her paternal aunt’s house at Sapmara village, according to the prosecution.
