A youth was stabbed to death in city’s Dakshin Banasree on Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Jakir Hossain, police said.
Rahima, resident of the areas, said, “She saw a gathering near the ‘Chartola Office’ when she was returning home around 9:30 pm. I saw a number of people surrounding an youth, who was lying in a pool of blood.”
An ambulance was seen parked there but it refused to carry him because no
one was agreeing to pay for it, she said.
Rahima then requested the driver of the ambulance to carry the seriously injured youth and also told him that she will pay the ambulance fare, she added.
When the ambulance reached the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), the on-duty doctor declared him dead at around 10:35 pm, said Bachchu Mia, In-Charge of DMCH Police Outpost.
SI Bachchu said that there were signs of stabbing in the Jakir’s chest.
The body was kept at DMCH mortuary for an autopsy, he added.
