A youth was stabbed to death in Miakhan Nagar area under Bakalia police station in the port city early yesterday.
The deceased identified as Saiful Alam Rakib, 23, son of Shah Alam Saudagar, a cutting master at a tailoring shop at Miakhan Nagar area under Baklia police station, was a resident of Cumilla district.
Shahidul Alam, elder brother of Rakib, told journalists that Rakib was attacked with knives by three drug peddlers in Toktar Pool area of Miakhan Nagar around 1am.
Then, he was rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where doctors declared him dead, said Alauddin Talukder, assistant sub-inspector of CMCH police outpost.
A case was filed with Bakalia thana in this connection.
Pranab Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Bakalia police station, said police detained one the accused Monir Hossain.
