A youth was slaughtered to death at Jinjira in Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Ripan Hossain, 30, inhabitant of Hafiz Road area in Keraniganj, police said.
Quoting wife of the deceased, Shaker Mohammad Zobayer, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Keraniganj Model Police Station, said, “Ripan went out of the residence with one Solaiman around 9:30pm on Wednesday. But he did not return home. The relatives also tried to trace
him, but failed to find his presence till Thursday evening. At one stage, they informed the matter to the police.”
While searching, police found the silted body from a room under lock and key of Solaiman at Jinjira around 10:30 pm on Thursday, the police official said.
The neck and wrist of right hand were almost separated from the body, he said quoting the inquest report.
The members of law enforcing agencies also recovered the sword which was used for committing the murder, the police official said.
The deceased’s wife Khuki Begum filed a case with the police station in this connection, the OC said.
The body was sent to the Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital for an autopsy, he added.
