A youth was slaughtered by some unidentified miscreants at Dharmapur village under Kochasahar union of Gobindaganj upazila of the district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Uzzal Miah, 22, son of Ataur Rahman, of the village.
Family members of the victim’s claimed that he might have been killed following rivalry over love affair.
They said Uzzal had a love affair with a local girl. Recently, the parents of the girl came to know about their love affair and gave him death threat.
Police said, on the day of the incident, some miscreants equipped with lethal weapons swooped on Uzzal and slaughtered him while he was on his way back to home from Dharmapur Bazar.
Being informed, a team of police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
Local lawmaker Abul Kalam Azad and UNO Mohammad Mamun-ul-Hasan visited the place of occurrence.
