A young man was shot by unidentified miscreants in Board Club area of Jessore sadar upazila on Saturday night.
The victim was identified as Atarur Rahman, 30, son of retired police sergeant Firoj Haider, a resident of Nurpur village of the upazila.
Police said miscreants hacked and shot Ataur in the area at night, leaving him injured.
Rescued by the locals, he was admitted to Jessore Medical College Hospital.
On information, police visited the spot and hospital.
Shikdar Akkas Ali, officer-in-charge of Jessore Kotowali Model Police Station, confirmed the incident.
He might have been shot over previous enmity, added OC.
The injured received bullet injuries on his neck and several injury marks were found on his hands, said Abul Kalam Azad, on-duty doctor of the Medical College Hospital.
