Armed miscreants shot a young man and hijacked his car from Bijoy Sarani in the capital early Wednesday.
The injured man was identified as Asif Abdullah Khan, 25, student of a private university. His friend Sabbir Ahmed Bappi was also injured as the carjackers beat him, said Mozammel Haque, Police Camp In-Charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
The police official said, “Some carjackers waylaid them with a truck near Bijoy Sarani flyover when they were returning to Uttara from Old Dhaka after taking sehri in a hotel at about 3:00am. They got down from the truck and beat us. At one stage, they shot Asif and hijacked the car.”
Asif was taken to the hospital with bullet injuries in one side of his abdomen, he said.
However, details regarding the incident could not be known yet, the police official said.
