Youth Road Show on Parliamentary Democracy, arranged by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), began in the country, aiming to make the young generation aware about parliament, its businesses and democracy.
CPA executive committee Chairperson and also the Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury inaugurated the programme at the Parliament Media Centre on Wednesday.
The CPA road show will provide an opportunity for young people to discuss the issues of concern about their society and democracy, meet local members of parliament and parliamentary staff and know the activities of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and the wider commonwealth.
Addressing the programme, the Speaker said, “I’m delighted to inaugurate the road show from CPA. The CPA wants to raise some crucial issues before the young generation putting them on a platform that will help them to be good citizens.”
Some 150 students from Residential Model College, Government Science College, BAF Shaheen College, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Government Boys’ and Girls’ High School took part in the programme and visited parliament. Besides, they met parliamentary members and took ideas about parliamentary affairs, democracy and the Commonwealth.
