A youth was killed and another received serious injuries in blast when they were making bomb at Hazaribagh thana in the city on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman said the incident took place around 4:30pm while the duo was making bombs at a house at Bhagolpur Lane behind Nawabganj police outpost.
Jashim, 20, and Raju, 25, suffered splinter injuries while making crude bombs at the latter’s house. They were rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared Jashim dead around 6:30pm, said Officer-in Charge of Hazaribagh Police Station.
Of them, the identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. But police said the injured Raju was identified as organising secretary of Ward No. 22 of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal.
Meanwhile, Raju claimed the deceased as his brother Jisan, said hospital sources. However, his identity could not be verified independently.
