UNB, Dhaka :
An unidentified young man was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city’s Agargaon area early Thursday.
Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. Sources at the RAB-2 Headquarters said a team of the elite force challenged some young men in the area while they were staying there at about 2:30 am.
Later, the group members opened fire to the elite force, prompting the law enforcers to retaliate, triggering a gunfight.
During the gunfight, a young man, aged about 25, of the group received severe bullet injuries while his
other associates managed to flee. He was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Two RAB members were also injured in the gunfight.
RAB also recovered two firearms and several rounds of bullet from the spot.
