A youth succumbed to his injuries in a city hospital on Saturday night, police said.
The victim was allegedly stabbed by some locals due to misunderstanding in a wedding party dance programme in the city’s Rayer Bazar area on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Shakil Khan, 15, son of Rakib Khan and hailing from Barisal district.
Police arrested four persons, including two women, in connection with the killing.
They have been identified as Asia Begum, 36, wife of Kamal Hossain, Asia’s sister Nazma Begum, 42, her nephew Md Nazim, 24, and Nazim’s brother Md Shahjahan, 30.
Quoting the victim’s family and witnesses, Mohammadpur Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azizul Haque said at least eight persons led by Kamal Hossain stabbed Shakil alleging that he touched the body of Asia Begum during the dance programme at around 10:00pm on Thursday.
Shakil was admitted to the Kamrangirchar Care Hospital in a critical condition on Thursday night where he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital at around 10:30pm, he said.
The OC said, the body has been sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy.
A case has been filed in this connection and police are trying to arrest the accused, including Kamal Hossain.
