UNB, Shariatpur :
A youth was killed and two others were injured in an explosion while making crude bombs at Kandi village in Jajira upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Anik Madbar, 22, while the injured were Moksed Madbar and Sagar Khan.
Quoting local people, police said a crude bomb went off with a big bang while the three youths were making bombs near a bamboo cluster, leaving the trio injured.
The injured were first rushed to a local hospital from where Anik and Moksed were sent to Dhaka
Medical College Hospital following deterioration of their condition. Later, Anik succumbed to his injuries at DMCH around 3 pm.
Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Jajira Police Station, said police visited the spot and recovered some bomb making materials from the spot.
Quoting local people, police said Meser Ali Madbar, former chairman of Bilashpur union and Kuddus Bepari, incumbent chairman of the union had been at loggerheads for long over establishing supremacy in the area.
The three youths, supporters of Meser Ali Madbar, were making crude bombs to launch attack on their rival groups in the morning, said police.
