A young man was beaten to death allegedly by his paternal uncle over a land dispute at Bausha village in Nakla upazila on Thursday.
Quoting victim’s family, police said Sultan Mia and Abdul Motaleb, two cousins, had long been at loggerheads over the ownership of a 15-decimal land.
In a sequel to the feud, an altercation between the supporters of the two broke out when Motaleb along with his sister Anjumala Begum and daughter-in-law Lailee Begum went to the disputed land to capture it in the morning.
Resisted, Motaleb along with Lailee and Anjumala beat up Sajal Mia, 22, son of Sultan mercilessly, leaving him injured.
Later, he was taken to Nakla Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
On information, police recovered the body and arrested Lailee and Anjumala, said Golam Haider, officer-in-charge of Nakla Police Station.
