A youth was killed in a clash between two rival groups over previous enmity centring establishing supremacy in Falshi village of Kashiani upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The deceased is identified as Arik Kazi, 35.
Nizamkandi Union Parishad Chairman Mohabbat Hossain Jewel said that he, along with his men, was attacked by former chairman’s group led by Laltu Sardar with local weapons near Falsi Bridge
area at around 10pm while they were heading to the residence of Mokhlesur Rahman alias Muku Master to attend a feast there. During the time, both the groups engaged in clash that left Arif and three others critically injured.
The injured were taken to Gopalganj General Hospital where Arif succumbed to his injuries, added the chairman.
Officer-in-Charge of Kashiani Police Station AKM Alinoor Hossain said the body will be handed over to the family members after an autopsy.
Police were deployed in the village to avoid further trouble over the incident, he added.
