Teen aged Zahidul Haq who was kidnapped from his village Umajuri under Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat on August 25 was recovered from Dhaka on Monday by the police of Chitalmari PS with the help of the police of Tong and Gulshan PS .
He was handed over to his parents on Tuesday.
SI Firoj Alam of Chitalmari PS said that a young man named Sohel allured Zahidul Haq, son of one Ali Haidar of village Umajuri with the promise of giving him a good job on August 25 and took him to Dhaka where he was confined by Sohel and his associates and demanded a sum of Tk.4.5 lakh over mobile phone as ransom from his father for his release. On August 28 Ziaul’s father lodged a kidnapped case with Chitalmari PS.
On August 29 according to the case a police squad of Chitalmari PS led by SI Firoj Alam raided Gazipur area in Dhaka based on the call list of Sohel. At that time getting the scent of the appearance of police Sohel and his associates left the place. But in the face of combing operation of the police the kidnappers released Zahidul Hoq on the main road near Gushan police plaza on Monday in the evening and fled away.
