Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested a youth with 1,900 pieces of yaba tablets from city’s Shah Amanat bridge area under Baklira Thana early yesterday.
The detainee was identified as Mohammad Anwar Hossain, 24, son of Mohammad Alam of Teknaf upazila under Cox’s Bazar district. On secret information, a team of Bakalia thana police conducted a drive in a passenger bus of Unique Paribahan and arrested Anwar with 1,900 pieces of yaba tablets. The tablets were recovered from his handbag, said Mohammad Mohosin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bakalia police station. A case was filed against him under Narcotics Control Act, the OC added.
