Youth hacked to death over a football match at Muladi

An youth was hacked to death and three others injured centering a football match at Selimpur Bazar in Muladi upazila of Barisal district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Rabiul Howlader, 22, son of Bazlur Rahman Howlader from Tayka-Tumchar village of the upazila.
Rabiul, a cook by profession, came to his native village from Dhaka to celebrate Eid with the family members and met a tragic death grieving the entire area.
The injured three youths have been identified as Shariful Islam, Ibrahim, and Year Hossain.
Matiur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Muladi Police Station, said that police restored discipline there at noon.
Of the injured, Ibrahim and Year Hossain were admitted to Upazila Health Complex.
 The body of Robiul was sent to Barisal SBMCH morgue for autopsy and till filing this report no case was lodged, police sources added.
Mujibor Rahman, Acting Chairman of local Batamara Union Parishad, said that the people of Tumchar and Selimpur arranged a friendly football match at Selimpur Secondary School ground on Thursday. But an altercation began over that.
To minimize the dispute, an arbitration meeting was summoned at Selimpur Bazar on Friday morning. Rather, both sides were locked into clash with sharp and lethal weapons at about 10:30 AM on Friday and Robiul was hacked to death on the spot and three others were severely injured.
Police reached the spot by speed boat at noon and dispersing the mob sent the dead and the injured victims to local health complex and hospital, the UP Chairman added.
