A young man was hacked to death by his friend in Baufal upazila of Patuakhali district on Monday over a trifling matter. Deceased Shaon Khandkar,25, was the son of Zakir Hossain Khandkar of Bilbilash village. He was a masters student of Tongi Govt College.
Shaon and his friend Razib Raza,24, son of Fayez Raza of Madanpur village, had an altercation in Bilbilash Bazar bridge area on Sunday night over a trifling matter.
As a sequel, Razib stabbed Shaon indiscriminately when he was taking tea at a tea stall at Bilbilash Bazar around 11am on Monday. Critically injured Shaon was whisked off to local health complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Baufal police OC Mostafizur Rahman said accused Razib was detained.
