Youth gets life term for abducting, violating school girl in Barishal

A Barishal court on Thursday sentenced a youth to life term imprisonment for abducting and violating a school girl.
Abu Shamim Azad, judge of “Nari O Shishu Nirjaton Daman (Women and Children Repression Prevention) Tribunal” Barishal announced this verdict in absence of the absconding accused Rabbi Haoladar, 26, after examining ten witnesses.
The court also ordered to issue arrest warrant against the convicted absconding accused.
Advocate Fayezur Rahman Foyez, special public prosecutor of the case, said accused Rabbi Haoladr was sentenced to life term imprisonment and fined Tk 25 thousand or to suffer more one year imprisonment in default for violating the victim school girl.
The court also sentenced the accused to 15 years imprisonment and fined Tk 25 thousand or to suffer more one year in jail in another section of the act for abducting the school girl.
Both sentences would be executed simultaneously.
Giving story of the case in brief Ajibor Rahman, the bench clerk of the court, said accused Rabbi was son of Idris Haoladar of Aathazar village under Shayestabad union of Barishal Sadar upazila. The victim was also native of the same union but residing at the house of her maternal grandmother reading in school at Peyadarhut area under Muladi upazila of Barishal district.
The accused abducting the victim from her way to school brought to Lakutia area under Kawnia police station of Barishal Metropolitan Police on April 24, 2013 and making her captive violated her.
