A tribunal here on Thursday convicted a young man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment in a case filed for hurling acid on a girl.
The convict was identified as Abdul Khalek of Uttar Analertari village in Sadar upazila.
The court also fined him Tk50,000.
According to the prosecution, Abdul Khalek used to tease Radha Rani, elder daughter of Chandicharan Modok of the village.
As Radha Rani refused the love proposal of Abdul Khalek, he swooped on the house of the girl and hurled acid at her, leaving three house inmates, including Radha Rani, burnt.
Later they victims were rushed to the burn and plastic surgery unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Snehalata, a victim and also a mother of Radha Rani, filed a case in this connection.
