A court here on Thursday convicted a young man and sentenced him to 14 years imprisonment for abducting a SSC examinee in 2015.
Convict Sobhan Uddin Jihan is a student of a private university a and resident of Nabinagar in the district town.
According to the prosecution, the SSC examinee was abducted by the convict while she was she was returning home from the exam center on March 14, 2015. Later, victim’s father filed a case against Sobhan and four others with Sadar Police Station.
On April 22, 2015, Sobhan along with the victim and four other accused surrendered before a judicial court and admitted that the girl had eloped with him and she did not want to live with her parents. Later the court sent her to Safe Home in Faridpur. The court also acquitted four accused as allegation brought against them was not proved.
