Former Bangladesh Bank governor Dr Atiur Rahman on Saturday urged the youth to step forward and volunteer as the country faces different challenges.
“This is the best time for the youth to express the skill of leadership … they will send positive messages to society,” he said, urging the youth to volunteer in combatting dengue.
He made the calls while inaugurating a daylong workshop on leadership development titled ‘Igloo Youth Leadership Conclave’ jointly arranged by Igloo, Radia Inc and Dream Deviser at Bishwa Shahittya Kendra in city.
Around 200 participants, aged 20-35 years, from diverse background attended the workshop where they took part in an interactive experience sharing platform with experts and leadership educators from different sectors.
Dr Atiur, also the chief guest, underscored the efforts of doctors in the fight against dengue. “Despite many problems, our doctors are giving their best to help the patients.”
The former Bangladesh Bank governor said the youth and other stakeholders must work together to face challenges the country will come across on its road to development.
He said everyone should work to ensure the stability of society and lauded the hosts for arranging such a timely event. “The youth must transform their potentials into performances,” he said.
