A youth was killed after a bus hit him in Dhaka’s New Elephant Road area on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Delwar Hossain, 30, a restaurant employee who hailed from Chandpur Sadar upazila.
A speedy bus hit him while he was crossing the road near Bata Signal point on his way to his work around 6:00am. Critically injured Delwar was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said Rashedul Islam, a Sub-Inspector of New Market Police Station.
Police are trying to identify the bus that fled after the accident, he said.
Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost, said the body was kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy.
